General Notes: H. Z. Jones, Jr., Palatine Families of New York, p. 388-389, wrote: "The origins of the Herkimer familly of the Mohawk Valley were at Sandhausen, 5 km south of Heidelberg. Churchbooks of Leimen, 1 km further south. The probable father of the emigrant Georg was one Christoph Herchheimer." Jones did not find a church record that confirmed his assumption but did find one that named the deceased Christoph in the marriage record of another son, Heinrich. Christoph married. |
