Martin follows a strong family tradition that Jacob Snell was born in Mannheim. No proof of that birthplace has been found. However, if correct, then he is likely the Jacobus Schnell baptized in Mannheim on 11 Oct 1674, per Jones.
Note: Mannheim is presently within the German state of Baden. However, in the 18th century, Mannheim was in the region known as the Pfalz (Palatinate).
