He married twice, only. DKM has not resolved his first wife's maiden name. She could be daughter of William Nellis of Palatine, per Nellis' will of 21 Oct. 1777. Or she could be daughter of Severinus and Anna Maria Dygert. He married Herkimer second.


Nicholas married Maria Margaretha Dygert about Apr 1753. (Maria Margaretha Dygert was born in 1722 and died on 10 Sep 1799.)

Nicholas next married Magdalena Herkimer, daughter of Hans Jost Hörchemer and Anna Catherine Petri, on 20 Oct 1782 in German Flats, Herkimer, New York. (Magdalena Herkimer was born in 1724 of Fall Hill, , New York and died before 1817.)
