  General Notes:

Snell - DKM pages 20 and 52. Buried in the Slate Hill Cemetery in Sharon.

"During the Revolution, a John Empie was a lieutenant in Capt. John Kasselman's company of Tryon County Rangers, possibly this John. There are other records for John Empies who were enlisted men, but they are accounted for elsewhere, yet it is uncertain which record refers to which John Empie. Likewise, there are three John Empies in the 1790 census in Montgomery County: at Palatine John Empier 205 and John Empier Jr. 316; at Herkimer Town: John Empie 213. There are enough candidates to go around: this john and his nephews John Fl (b.1762) and John A. (b.1769)."

Johannes married Anna Maria Kilts, daughter of Johann Peter Kiltz and Anna Maria Bellinger, about 1779. (Anna Maria Kilts was born on 2 Sep 1751 in Palatine Bridge, Montgomery, New York, United States, died in 1832 and was buried in Sharon, Schoharie, New York, United States.)
